ITTHIPON JEERAPAN

Itthipon Jeerapan (in Thai อิทธิพล จีระพันธ์) is an assistant professor and  a research principal investigator at Prince of Songkla University, Department of Chemistry, Thailand. He is also a member of the Center of Excellence for Trace Analysis and Biosensor, Thailand.

He was born and raised in Thailand, and completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Prince of Songkla University in 2013. Since 2009, he has been awarded a fully-funded scholarship from the Royal Thai Government to study chemistry, science, and technology from bachelor to doctoral degree. Itthipon’s research involvement began with analytical chemistry at Trace Analysis and Biosensor Research Center. He also joined a project to modify a microelectronic transistor for sensors at Thai Microelectronics Center, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Thailand. In 2013, he awarded a research grant to study abroad on materials for electrochemical biosensing and energy-storage applications at Biosensors and Bioelectronics Center, Linköping University, Sweden. After received his B.S., he moved to USA in 2014 to join the Wang’s Nanobioelectronics Lab at UCSD as a student and completed his M.S. (NanoEngineering) and Ph.D. (NanoEngineering) in 2016 and 2019.

 

Itthipon Jeerapan serves as an Associate Editor for ECS Sensors Plus (The Electrochemical Society) and acts as a guest editor for several international journals. He is also a member of  the Electrochemical Society (ECS) and the American Chemical Society (ACS)He is also recognized as an invited reviewer for leading journals, including Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, ACS Sensors, Nano-Micro Letters, ACS Nano, Microchimica Acta, Electrochemistry Communications, and many others.

Recently, Itthipon Jeerapan received the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) Distinguished Young Chemist Award, an honor conferred by a federation comprising 32 chemical societies across the Asia-Pacific region. Member societies include the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (Australia), Bangladesh Chemical Society, Brunei Darussalam Chemical Society, Cambodian Chemical Society, Chinese Chemical Society, Hong Kong Chemical Society, Indian Chemical Society, Chemical Research Society of India, Himpunan Kimia Indonesia, Iraqi Chemical Society, Israel Chemical Society, Chemical Society of Japan, Jordanian Chemical Society, Korean Chemical Society, Kuwait Chemical Society, Institut Kimia Malaysia, Mongolian Chemical Society, Myanmar Chemical Society, Nepal Chemical Society, New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, Chemical Society of Pakistan, Institute of Chemistry Papua New Guinea, Integrated Chemists of the Philippines, Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society, Saudi Chemical Society, Singapore National Institute of Chemistry, Chemical Society of the South Pacific, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Chemical Society Located in Taipei, Chemical Society of Thailand, Timor-Leste Chemical Society, Turkish Chemical Society, and the Chemical Society of Vietnam.

In addition, he has received several prestigious honors, including the Thailand Young Scientist Award 2024 from the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology, the Research Award 2024 from the National Research Council of Thailand, recognition as a Top 2% Scientist in the World (2023 and 2024), the Young Investigator Award 2023 from Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, the Distinguished Young Chemist Award 2022 from the Chemical Society of Thailand, and the Outstanding Dissertation Award 2021 from the National Research Council of Thailand.

Itthipon Jeerapan has authored over 70 publications, with more than 5,450 citations and an H-index of 29.
